He’d tried calling her multiple times, which is why he rushed to the office just in time to find Mino choking the life out of her.
Jay couldn’t help giving the pathetic excuse of a man a beating.

Meanwhile, Mr. Capable is about to drop off Mrs. Y, whom he’s been advising throughout her divorce, when he gets a call from Jay. “Hey, what is it at this hour?” Jay isn’t one to call him much at all, let alone late at night.
“I’m at the police station,” the younger man starts.
Alarmed, Mr. Capable starts heading over to him when Jay instructs he go to the hospital instead. Sure enough, Gigi was transferred to the emergency room. A worried Mrs. Y tags along because she’s concerned for her dear friend.
Thankfully, Gigi’s pulse and breathing are stable, but she has a fever, so they need to check once she wakes up. It was an assault, so she came with the police.
A perplexed Mrs. Y throws a glance at Mr. Capable’s direction, for she’s somewhat at a loss. When did her friend become entangled in such a messed-up situation?
Behind bars
“I’m going to ruin your life, so brace yourself,” Mino threatens Jay, who’s in the cell next to his. “I’ll tell the media that a third-generation tycoon assaulted me. You can’t cover things up these days. I have nothing to lose now, thanks to you, but isn’t Gigi too inferior to ruin your life over? She’s nothing but skin and bones”.
Mino’s been confused over Jay’s obsession with Gigi ever since it started; he just doesn’t get it. He advises Jay not trust her, for she’s why he went mad. Gigi makes people lose their minds (and not in a good way).
“Gigi and I aren’t the ones who ruined your life. It’s your trashy personality,” Jay replies in his monotonous tone. He doesn’t spare the man a look, if only he’d shut up.
Is his personality any better, considering how he beat him? Mino maintains he can’t do this just because he’s the better fighter.
Jay finally throws a disgusted look at Mino, that’s a bit rich considering what he did to a woman half his size. He gets up, fully facing the seated Mino, only steel bars separating them. “You seek equality when at a disadvantage and strength when at an advantage. I hate using my strength, but not to you”.
Jay’s cell opens, and he’s free to go. Mr. Capable stands right outside waiting for him.
In a panic, Mino gets up, yelling what about him. They can’t leave him there!
“Do you really think you can’t go any lower? You’re wrong,” Jay calmly and dismissively tells him right before leaving.
No, wait. Is it because he’s rich? He works at U&K. What about him? “What about me? One law for the rich and another for the poor!” Mino screams at the top of his lungs to no one in particular.
Outside, walking towards the car, Jay instructs Mr. Capable to fire Mino as of today for assaulting a colleague and violating the rules.
Gigi is at home, Mr. Capable lets him know. It’s what she wanted. Since he happened to be with Mrs. Y, he left her with Gigi, but Jay needs to know she didn’t look good.
Right before heading to Gigi, Jay tells Mr. Capable to put pressure on Mino for the loan he’d acquired through the company. He wants to destroy him.
Comfort in the darkness
He finds her crying and returns her desperate, heartbroken hug with a loving one of his own. A big part of Jay can’t help being sorry for everything; he failed her despite all his efforts to avoid doing just that.
But Gigi blames nothing on him. Through a torrent of tears, she looks him over, concerned that he’s hurt. What’s that on his lip?
Jay grabs hold of her hand, gives it a kiss, and pulls her in for a hug. He comforts her throughout the night.
Sue’s power play
Sue meets Arya without Mino knowing, armed with a recording of the conversation Arya had with her father, suggesting the couple leave the country. “Poor people always try to keep a record as insurance,” she calmly threatens Arya.
What does she want? Does she hate that she’s taking care of her father? Arya isn’t one to faze.
Now that crushing Gigi isn’t so simple anymore, how come Arya suddenly says don’t do anything? Then Mino asks for a divorce, and her dad won’t pick up—Sue isn’t stupid, she realizes she’s about to get screwed over.
“I ask the questions now, what can you do for me?” Sue demands. She’s in control now.
It did the job; Arya was pissed after Sue left. How dare she make demands of her? Who does she think she is? She’s had enough, it’s time they take care of Sue and Mino at the same time.
Mino’s world collapses
Ironically, that’s also when she gets a call from Min,o who’s at the police station. Arya ends up sending her assistant to free Mino from the police station, which is the last place this pawn of hers should be. He knows too much.
“We got you out, but it’s pretty serious,” Arya’s assistant informs Mino as they walk out of the station. They may not be able to cover it. Besides, it wasn’t agreed on beforehand. If they have to fight U&K head-on, the burden on Arya will be big.
“Hey! What’s with the attitude? Who do you think you are?” Mino yells at the man while coming to a full stop.
Of course, he never expected the other man to walk up to him and serve a solid punch on his face. He retaliates and hits the assistant in turn—Mino’s beyond pissed. How dare the assistant give him an attitude? He asks this of Arya on the phone a little later while in a taxi cab.
Arya informs him that Sue came over to threaten her earlier that day, saying that he asked for a divorce and she won’t go down alone.
Is Sue crazy? Dammit. Then a call from U&K comes on, the HR department. On the other line, Mr. Capable lets Mino know that since he didn’t come to work that day, the legal team has sent someone to deliver his written dismissal.
Cue a call from his mom asking where he is since someone from his workplace is at their home. Is he fired? What on earth has he been doing?
And another call informing him that his obligation to repay the U&K guaranteed loan is effective as of today. All’s falling apart for Mino; he’s drowning in debt, and everyone is after him.
Mino’s discovery
A little later, while at home, he goes through Sue’s account online, recalling her saying she got some money from stocks. He needs the money!
And she happens to have enough to shock him. How the hell does she have so much?
Then, remembering the money Arya had given to hand over to Sue’s dad for the truck “accident”, Mino finds all of it hidden in the room, buried inside a dresser. She stole the money from her dad; she’s really something.
He starts laughing maniacally.
Mr. Capable’s protection
Mrs. Y’s husband got wind of her suing him for adultery and finally found her after an extensive search at a hospital. She’d been admitted a few days ago to start treatment for her stomach cancer. That day, she wasn’t feeling particularly great; his showing up angry and reactive wasn’t helping matters.
A doctor and nurse rushed into the wing to hold the man back, for he’d started shouting that she didn’t have evidence, she couldn’t divorce him without hard proof. In a desperate move, he grabbed a big piece of sharp glass from one of the items that crashed to the ground in the altercation.
Mrs. Y gasps in fear for it’s pointed towards her when a hand interjects, grabbing her soon-to-be ex-husband’s hand.
“Who are you? What’s going on? Let go!” the man yells in an angry voice laced with fear.
“Did you even read the divorce papers?” Mr. Capable’s confident voice is heard as he pushes the man hard towards the far wall.
Mr. Capable pulls out his card; he’s Mrs. Y’s lawyer. He’ll apply for a restraining order; the man better never come back.
“Are you okay?” Mr. Capable asks Mrs. Y while handing her a coffee, a while later after her husband departed. The doctor is good and confident about the surgery; she shouldn’t worry.
But Mrs. Y recalls her friend’s tribulations lately and asks after Gigi’s situation, is she ok?
Mr. Capable pauses for a good second before letting her know Gigi is doing fine. Seeing Mrs. Y exclaim in obvious relief, he cocks his head to the side. She should worry about herself.
Setting the trap with Sue
“Mino and I are getting a divorce. I left the house yesterday, so I’m staying upstairs,” Sue tells Jay as the two sit by the bar. She’d been surprised to have Jay contact her to set up a meeting. Which of her cards should she play?
“It must be karma,” Sue continues, “Blinded by love, I betrayed my only best friend. In the end, I’m left all alone now”.
“The divorce makes things easier to say,” Jay responds. He turns to look straight at Sue, “Did you try to kill Gigi?”
Sue looks at him in stunned silence. This directness was definitely not what she’d expected.
“I would’ve done the same,” Jay’s eyes never waver, “I’m saying I know Gigi and Mino are seeing each other again”.
Are they really seeing each other? Sue’s brain is working all the possibilities a million miles an hour. Everyone still thinks that things are over between Jay and Gigi after the public in-office fight they staged.
“Let’s charge them with adultery. I’ll let you know when and where to go. If you want, I’ll get you the best lawyer, too. You just fulfill your role as his legal spouse,” Jay lays out the plan for her.
He’s playing the jaded lover role and needs Sue’s cooperation to trap all of them. Why is he helping her? Sue awaits an answer, and Jay knows it needs to be a satisfying one. The woman is cunning with a cruel streak; her selfishness must be tapped into.
“Isn’t your life ruined because of Mino? If you divorce, you won’t be rewarded for your work at the company. You’ll be left with nothing,” he answers.
That’s true for her, but what does Jay gain?
“I want to get Gigi back. I like her and hate that she’s with him again. I’m going to make her come back to me again, so help me,” he tries appealing to her.
“Can I ask you something? Why do you hate me?” Sue asks for, despite the proposed cooperation, Jay’s obvious distaste for her is on full display. The man hates even glancing her way.
“Because you’re selfish,” he responds, “There are those who gnaw at people around them. You’re that type, so I hate you”.
He doesn’t know her that well. How does he arrive at such conclusions about her personality?
“You don’t trust anyone, do you? That’s because you’re not trustworthy. You think everyone’s like you, so you can’t trust anyone,” Jay doesn’t beat around the bush.
How can he work with her thinking like that? Okay, Sue’s pissed now; she can’t even pretend to be her charming innocent self since he exposed so much of the devil within.
Hey, didn’t she ask why he hates her? Jay never said he couldn’t work with her. Once she figures out he doesn’t have to like everyone he works with, she should contact him. With that, he leaves.
The insurance plan
“It went well. As you said, she asked me why I was helping her. I don’t think she’d believe me if I lied, so I mixed in some truth. Except that it’ll be Arya and Mino instead, everything I said was true,” Jay turns to Gigi as he reports back inside her apartment.
There’s an insurance policy provided to company employees (a family insurance) that compensates the individual, spouse, and immediate family. An employee can decide to keep it when quitting. A notice will go out to Mino real soon informing him of this.
“He doesn’t know such insurance existed, but he will soon,” Gigi satisfactorily says. They’ve set the stage; now the actors have to get on it for the play to begin.
Though it’s useless if Mino doesn’t decide to die, Jay reminds her. He could’ve stopped several times on his way back from the police station, but he didn’t. Gigi is certain he’ll go all the way. In such a case, there shouldn’t be a problem since Sue will go all the way too.
Jay’s convinced she’s more obsessed with Gigi right now than anyone else. All that’s left is for Sue to experience the betrayal of her husband cheating on her with another woman. And that woman is set to be Arya, who’s already received the tin of candies and red high heels.
She just needs a little more of a push since she’s been considering running away abroad once more.
Jay finds the right opportunity to issue that small push during one of her many fake-nice visits to his grandfather. He walks in on her playing chess with the chairman and implores his grandfather not have his ex-fiancée visit the house since she’s not the woman he loves. Before, he’d told Grandfather that his love was one-sided, but ever since then, he’s resolved to pursue it.
He brought Gigi over so Arya could get out.
Gigi’s promise to grandfather
As Jay looks on outside at an angry Arya leaving, certain that their little push served its purpose, Gigi informs Grandfather she’s decided to face the obstacles that are bound to happen.
When he met her last time, there was something he didn’t tell her. Powering through isn’t a solution to everything. He’s aware Jay gave him a lot for briefly seeing him—it’s time she steps back and says “it is what it is”.
“So you knew,” Gigi issues a smile, “I give him hell for that, it won’t happen again. He lacks so much”.
Grandfather is looking at her with different eyes.
“You spoiled him,” she continues, “He only knows how to work and has no concept of money. Honestly, I was flustered because he was like a rich boy”.
But she liked that about him. To tell the truth, Gigi knows she lacks a lot, too.
When she’d thought he was a perfect third-generation wealthy individual, he seemed unreachable. Yet he can be foolish, he gets angry, and is messy. He gets embarrassed, and sometimes he acts like a baby. Seeing those sides of him made her think they’d go well together.
Gigi wants to be happy with him, so can Grandfather give Jay to her?
Ernie’s success and Helen’s absence
As he predicted, the spinach pasta with sea snails was most popular and will be the main product. Ernie smiles upon hearing Gigi report the positive status of his recipe, a good thing for someone who shows up with a camera. Gigi encourages him to be natural; there’s no pressure.
While Ernie nods, his eyes can’t help straying over to Helen’s empty seat across the room. Admittedly, he’s somewhat disappointed at yet again not catching a glimpse of her.
After their meeting, Gigi walks him down to the lobby. He did a great job today!
“It was nothing. You saved me from being unemployed. I appreciate it,” he sincerely tells her. By the way, he didn’t see Helen and Jay today.
Gigi looks somewhat perplexed. Jay was there all day, though she also hasn’t seen Helen. Come to think of it, where did she go?
With no more details, Ernie waves goodbye and leaves.
Sue’s confrontation
However, for Gigi, heading back upstairs turns out to be a mini battle for the elevator doors open to reveal a confrontational Sue. Why’s Gigi not picking up her calls?
“Why do I have to pick up your calls?” Gigi demands back.
Sue lets out one of her fake smiles—yeah, she gets it. Gigi was with him for seven years, but he chose her best friend over her. It must have been hard for Gigi to accept.
“But still, how could you seduce a married man? I’m about to get divorced because of you,” Sue has the audacity to make Gigi look like the bad guy.
Gigi pulls out her cell and calls security. An outsider is on the sixteenth floor; they’d better take care of her.
Sue’s face has lost all signs of a smile. What is Gigi doing?
“Hey,” Gigi starts stepping closer to Sue, “Why would I sleep with someone else’s man? I’m not you. Right, you seduced Mino this way, so I’m sure you know about it. But if he betrayed his girlfriend of seven years, why didn’t you know he could do the same to you?”
She’ll put posters up here to make him and Gigi be too ashamed to work; she won’t stand for it. But Gigi merely laughs at this pathetic and childish threat. That’s too bad, her husband was fired.
“So stop suspecting me and be a good wife. Oh, wait, you two are divorcing, that’s too bad. But thinking about it is pissing me off. Only you covet trash like Mino, why would I? Unless I was a fool”.
Having had the last word, Gigi leaves. Sue is thrown out of the building by security. She was pissed before, now she’s furious.
The pieces fall into place
“Sue will call me soon,” Jay tells Gigi. Sure enough, his phone rings. Sue’s first words are that she’s going to ruin Gigi. He can have her; in return, she has to hit rock bottom first. She’ll make her beg! She won’t cooperate before that.
“We have Sue in our hands,” Gigi says after Sue hangs up. Jay also thinks Mino is about to make his move.
Mino’s desperate deal
Mino bangs on Arya’s hotel door with determination. He’s a man on a mission, his hands holding a bunch of papers. Barging inside once her assistant opens the door, he heads over to the dining table where she’s having dinner and gets on his knees.
“You may not have a reason to cover for me, but we can make a deal. I’ll take care of Sue, so she won’t bother you,” he adds the last part to appeal, which seems to work since Arya has her assistant set a meal for her uninvited guest.
So how does he plan to take care of his wife?
“I’m broke, so I’m going to kill myself. But there’s a way to live, and I think it might help you too,” he says, setting the papers he’d been holding in front of Arya.
He’d gotten the papers in the mail from U&K after they fired him. After Sue disappears, there won’t be anyone to threaten her. It won’t be easy, and they’ll need to get their story straight, but is she willing to help?
Arya takes a sip of her drink. It sounds like he wants her to clean up his mess again. No, not just that—she needs to set it up for him too. Money and connections are everything, but Mino has neither.
“You’ve got guts,” Arya says, “If you don’t have anything, you should at least have guts. But isn’t that all you’ve got?”
Suddenly, Mino pulls her toward him. Does she think it was easy to decide? This is the last resort, so he’ll risk his life. She looks him in the eyes before pushing his hand off her. This is his last chance.
The trap is sprung
Jay informs Gigi that Mino is at Arya’s suite; it’s time for their plan to unfold. He texts Sue that Mino and Gigi are in room 1355 at the Winton Hotel.
Sure enough, Gigi takes a taxi to the very same hotel where Sue lingers in the lobby waiting to follow her. As she takes the elevator upstairs (thinking she’s following Gigi), Gigi emerges still in the lobby, where Jay joins her.
Jay pulls Gigi into an embrace as they look at the elevator awaiting in anticipation of the events that are about to unfold.
Upstairs, Sue quickly walks around in search of room 1355. As she locates the door and knocks, she’s let in by a man in a suit (Arya’s assistant).
Barging inside, she hears a man’s laugh from the bedroom. In a walk reminiscent of that of Gigi in her past life, when she walked toward the bedroom to find her best friend in bed with her husband, Sue walks down a hallway.
As she makes her way closer to the bedroom, voices leak through.
“But that is genius,” Arya’s voice is heard, “Going after your wife’s life insurance benefit”.
That’s not all, Mino’s voice comes through promising to treat her to something nice once he gets paid.
Stepping into the bedroom, Sue sees her husband in bed next to Arya. Damn, he’s a piece of trash that can’t be handled. Oh, she’s so pissed. What’s she going to do about it? Arya chimes in, for indeed, what’s she going to do about it?
“I’m going to send the voice recording to the police. Where’s my dad? Did you kill him?” Sue threatens and then attacks the other woman.
Mino looks a bit shocked at the last part. Did she say kill?
“I thought you were trying to get Gigi back,” Sue continues, turning toward Mino, “What are you doing here with her? I heard you were fired. Since you have a lot of free time, spend it in jail!”
She pulls out her phone, snapping pictures. Mino hides under the blankets, but Arya is motionless aside from the small tilt of her head, a sign for her assistant to handle the situation. He grabs Sue, and before she knows it, she’s lying unconscious on the floor, her hands tied up securely.
As Mino wonders what the hell he’s supposed to do now, Arya bends down staring at the unconscious woman. What does he mean? They’ll go forward with his plan. But not here, she’ll set it up for him. In fact, she’ll set it up so well that she’ll get rid of his parasitic existence as well, though he need not know that right now.
The final confrontation
Sue wakes up to a hazy vision of Mino drinking from a mug. What does he think he’s doing? He empties out the mug, walks toward her, then bends down on the floor to get to her level.
“So why did you do something like that? You’re great, but you don’t know your place,” he tells her.
She has money; she’ll give it all to him if he lets her go. If he kills her, does he think Arya will leave him alone?
Mino takes a seat. Fine, he’ll give her that she has solid evidence on Arya, but it’s too bad she erased it while Sue was passed out. “What a dummy,” Mino grabs her purse, rummaging inside, “People like us shouldn’t go against people with power. What can we do?”
Oh, and she has no money. He shows her bank account that amounts to a flat zero balance. As Sue yells in indignation, Mino retorts that it wasn’t her money anyway since she stole it when she had the chance. Sue realizes she’s screwed over and is about to have a terrible end.
“Oh, and I realized you had the bag I bought for Gigi,” Mino continues with a satisfied smirk, “I sold that to take care of urgent matters for me. Don’t be too upset, you said you wouldn’t go down alone. One of us has to die so I have to take care of you to start over”.
He pulls out a knife, and she just waits. He heads to the door as Sue screams for him to let her go at the top of her lungs. Let me go! Let me go! Hey!
But Mino couldn’t care less. He makes his way to the boiler room of the abandoned place and pulls out the knife, slowly starting to cut one of the gas lines.
Sue fights back
When he goes back inside, it’s to find it empty. The ties that bound Sue on the floor, her cell on the table where he left it, and her bag on the floor where he threw it. Where did she go?
Concerned and moments before being fully alert, Mino looks around just in time to see Sue lunge forward from her hiding place in an attack with a massive kitchen knife aimed at him. Is she crazy? He yells at her, unable to control the fear seeping into his bones.
“Leave the car key and move aside,” Sue instructs. She’s in survival mode and, yes, a bit mad. Mino is coming to realize this as he attempts to have her put the knife down and calm down.
Sue, however, won’t die. She’ll never die! Did he hear that? He pulls out the key, offering it to her. Here it is, she should put down the knife.
As he coaxes Sue to come get the key, he grabs the chair that’s behind him. When she makes a grab for it, Mino hits her with the chair. Sue goes flying to the floor, but he grabs her and starts to beat her in absolute anger.
Sue attempts to escape, crawling on the floor when Mino takes off his coat and smiles. His lovely wife’s going to die from carbon monoxide poisoning from a boiler malfunction while he’s away to get groceries. So she should stop ruining his life; she should just die already!
This is what the insurance was about? Does he think it’s going to go his way? Sue can’t help goading him; she’s in disbelief that this will be her end. She kicks Mino, who dare come close to her. While he rolls on the floor in pain, she starts maniacally laughing.
The truth comes out
Guess it’s time for some truths since they’ve made their feelings about each other clear. Oh, she knows he’s sterile and shooting blanks since Gigi told her. “I was never pregnant,” Sue relishes in attacking him with the col,d hard truth.
Does he get it now? She crazily laughs once more before heading for the knife on the opposite side of the floor. Mino won’t let her go that easily—he suddenly gets up and grabs her. But Sue’s fighting for her life; she won’t go down easily.
Grabbing hold of a glass pitcher on the table that Mino is restraining her with, she smacks it hard on his head. Stunned from the impact, Mino backs away.
In a move reminiscent of the shove he gave Gigi in their past life, Sue pushes him, and he falls backward toward the glass coffee table that shatters.
Blood pools around him; he’s dead. His last breath was similar in every way to that of Gigi.
The funeral
Gigi gets a text informing her of Mino’s funeral ceremony. Jay told her he’d been informed that he had fallen over a glass table and died after hitting his head. With the evidence, the police are looking for Sue as the prime suspect. But the security cameras didn’t work, so they must find out what happened. Is she going to the funeral?
She does, in fact, go, and she stares at Mino’s picture at the ceremonial hall; she can’t help but think that this isn’t how she pictured it.
She’d thought it would be nice once he died. She’d thought that she’d burst with anger all those disappointing times that were filled with despair and betrayal. She’d spent all night wondering why he’d been like that with her, but it ended like this regardless.
As Gigi turns to leave, joining Ja,y who’s waiting on the side, Mino’s mom walks in. Seeing Gigi, she confronts her—how dare she show up?
If Gigi hadn’t betrayed Mino, he never would’ve married Sue. That wench killed her son; she ruined her precious son’s life! Her poor boy! The woman collapses on the floor, weeping in distress.
Sue’s last move
The police are on a manhunt for Sue, who’s still around, because someone broke into Mino’s parents’ house. Jay is certain it must’ve been Sue. He feels uneasy.
Gigi is too nice, so she doesn’t know that some people are unable to stop. Unless you stomp on them completely, they don’t stop.
