Gigi tries to keep up with the gurney as Jay is rolled into emergency surgery. She’s barely able to hold her sobs; he’s so bloody and unconscious.
She’s terrified of losing him; this can’t be happening.

Six days earlier: Arya’s manipulations begin
Six days ago, Arya met Mino in person. At the same time they were meeting, Sue was admonishing Gigi’s mom on the phone for bringing up money. She told her to act like a caring mom!
But a call from Mino comes through, and he wants to verify who sent the envelope disclosing Jay’s identity since Arya claimed to be that person. “I guess a rich girl is upset because someone stole her man,” he tells her, and exits the car from where they were talking. He doesn’t want to get involved.
Why has Arya come to him? As stupid as Mino may be, he’s not going to end up as someone’s puppet if he can help it.
However, Arya is angry at Gigi for stealing her man. It’s natural to give Mino a chance to punish the woman who betrayed him and change his life with a fortune. She ends up blowing off steam and getting U&K—it’s a win-win.
As for what he’ll need to do to make that happen, it’s all in good time. He should await her call.
Mino confronts Gigi
It all sounds too good to not be scary. Mino decides to confront Gigi the next day in the elevator, demanding how she knew Jay was from the owner’s family. He looks like a loser, Mino couldn’t tell at all.
Gigi attempts to leave the grasp he’s gotten over her shoulders, but Mino is persistent in his inquisition. He pushes her hard against the side of the elevator. Did she develop feelings the night of the proposal? That’s probably why she ruined the family meeting and humiliated him at work!
Everything makes sense now, but when did she start planning all this? He yells at her to tell him.
“What the hell are you saying?” Gigi yells back and gives him a good kick that makes Mino collapse on the floor. He’s forgetting one missing piece—he cheated on her with Sue. That’s the cause of all this.
It’s safe to say it doesn’t take much more for Mino to go running back to Arya and accept her proposal.
Jay’s secret preparations
“I took care of the taxes today. Now, Gigi has unknowingly become one of the richest real estate owners in the country. Is this really right?” Mr. Capable poses the rhetorical question to Jay, who’s going over the documents at his place.
“And here’s the bigger problem, I’m not sure about not telling the chairman,” he continues.
“You’re the one who said I could do anything,” Jay reminds him.
Yeah, he did say that, but what’s Jay trying to do? If he wasn’t managing Jay’s health checkup results, he’d think the young man was dying. He understands the cat (Jay had asked earlier to make arrangements for the kitty should anything happen to him), but why prepare for Gigi’s future?
Didn’t the two of them break up?
“I just want to do this. I hope she’ll live a good life later on since we’re not meant to be together,” Jay solemnly responds.
The conspiracy takes shape
Meanwhile, Arya’s investigation has also revealed Gigi’s net worth, and she’s not shy about sharing it with Mino to agitate him even more.
“You kept a lot of things from me,” Mino directs to Sue once he’s back in their room. “You used Gigi’s mom to swindle her, but failed”.
How the heck does he know that? Sue looks at him, perplexed.
“You dummy,” he starts as he sits in front of her, “The person who sent you the photos wasn’t suggesting you find her mom to beg for money. What’s important right now is that Gigi has billions”.
Sue exclaims in surprise, how is that possible? But Mino confirms Jay gave it to her; she’s on a whole other level now. The realization is too much for Sue, anger and resentment towards Gigi simmer so deeply that she can’t do more than just look upset.
“But it’s good for us,” Mino continues, making her look up at him. “If she dies, her only family member gets it, her mom”.
Do they just wait until she dies? And if she dies, will her mom give it to them?
Mino, however, is no longer in the unknown. Thanks to Arya’s intelligence, he knows Sue’s dad is still alive, much to her shock.
Sue’s twisted family reunion
Before she knows it, Sue finds herself meeting her dad and his wife, who is no one other than Gigi’s mom. He’s the man she left her husband and daughter for many years ago, and he’s in so much debt.
Sue doesn’t meet them empty-handed. With her, she brings the money Arya provided for the job to be executed properly. She warns them that the money was given by someone who can bury them without anyone else knowing. If they do as told, their shitty life will be over, or they’ll die together.
D-Day is to be the day Gigi goes to see her dad for his death anniversary.
Jay’s desperate race against time
It’s on that same day, in the evening, that Jay got a call from Mr. Capable informing him that Arya hasn’t made any moves.
“But I think we made a mistake,” Mr. Capable acknowledges, “Gigi’s mother illegally rented a dump truck under a borrowed name. If she dies, all of the real estate in her name will go to her mother”.
Jay hangs up to immediately call Gigi, whose phone is dead. She’s about to head out from the memorial arboretum, the car tailing her ready to follow.
The man in the car is Simo,n and he receives a call from Jay instructing him to not let Gigi drive. Unfortunately, his car just broke down in the parking lot as he was about to follow Gigi; there’s nothing he can do.
There are times when things that were foggy or unclear become clear. Jay dons his coat and heads out as a man on a mission.
Why did he come back to this time? He recalls his words to the cab driver in his past life, If I had, I’d have protected her.
If he gets a chance, he’ll take it, for if he can’t be with her, why else would he come back to life?
The sacrifice
While driving to Gigi, Jay tries calling her again, only to get her voicemail.
“I’ll tell you something I didn’t expect to tell you like this. I died in 2023. It was a car accident, and when I opened my eyes, I was in 2013. Then I met you again, and I mistakenly believed I could be happy. But I can’t protect you forever because I could die at any time. I couldn’t resist the temptation to be with you. I like you. I like you, I like you so much, so I’m sorry”.
With unshed tears in his eyes, he speeds up even more, for he’s almost there. He sees Gigi stopped at the intersection red light and the truck speeding up heading directly towards her.
He came here to protect her, but had he known his death would happen so soon, he would never have held her hand.
Jay drove between the truck and Gigi. His last thoughts before the darkness enveloped him were that she shouldn’t blame herself; the inevitable just happened.
The waiting room
Sitting at the emergency room outside the surgery ward where they’d wheeled in a bloody Jay, Gigi looks down at the phone charging next to her.
Seeing a message from Jay barely an hour old, she urgently pulls out her headphones to listen.
With tears in her eyes after hearing Jay’s last words, Gigi looks up to see Helen and the chairman hurrying to the doctor.
“He arrived at the ER an hour ago and went into surgery,” the doctor starts, “Top doctors are on him. I’ll explain with the chart”. Jay’s grandfather follows the doctor along with his team while Helen goes to sit by Gigi.
Gigi tries to assure the younger woman that her brother will be fine. At least that’s what she’s been trying to tell herself, especially after hearing Jay call his death an inevitable event.
Uncovering the truth
Suddenly, she notices Mr. Capable calling on the side another aide. She follows the two men carefully up the staircase, where she happens to overhear Mr. Capable saying that Sue could never have done this on her own.
“Did you just say Sue?” Gigi asks as the other man leaves her alone with Mr. Capable. “It wasn’t just a car accident, was it? But she won’t gain anything from killing me, and she’s not daring enough to kill”.
Mr. Capable, now that he’s caught, discloses they’re looking into i,t assuming there’s someone behind this. In terms of gaining anything if she dies, that’s something Jay made. It was supposed to be for her.
People don’t change easily. Gigi came back after seeing the end, but she tried to run away again. She didn’t get revenge. She hasn’t done anything. And Jay…
That’s when the doctor appears to let the anxious people outside the surgery room know that they did everything they could, but they won’t know when he’ll wake up.
Grandfather insists they have to save him! They need to save him at all costs!
The confrontation
Gigi decides it’s time to meet Sue. The other woman comes running outside as soon as she gets the text from her “other half”.
“Can you really not leave me alone?” Gigi starts. “I’ve wanted to ask you for some time, and I finally can. How could you think of killing someone? Was it for money?”
Sue looks surprised. What’s she saying? Why would she say something so scary?
“What about you? Don’t you know what you did to me? I miscarried because of you,” Sue gives a little sniff. She’s playing the pity card, unaware that Gigi knows the truth behind her alleged pregnancy.
Gigi gives a scoffing laugh. What nonsense. “Pregnant? Mino has azospermia; he can’t get anyone pregnant!”
In desperation, Sue insists she was really pregnant. She has an ultrasound picture; she felt it!
She’s had enough of this madness, Gigi screams for her to stop in all the frustration bubbling up inside of her. Sue needs to stop lying; she keeps lying and lying!
Suddenly, Gigi reaches out and grabs Sue by the shoulders. What’s with her? Why’s she doing this to her?
Sue’s confession
It seems this move, and Gigi’s uncharacteristic, frustrated screams, finally broke Sue’s ongoing persona. She pulls back from Gigi’s grasp, and all sadness disappears from her face.
“You asked if I could leave you alone—no, I can’t because you can’t be happy. You probably don’t know. When your mom had an affair and left you when we were fourteen, it was with my dad. You had no idea and were so happy, but because of that, I stopped being his little princess; he stopped caring for me.”
Sue goes on, “My dad’s new princess had a daughter. Maybe we could’ve been good friends if I didn’t know that you still had everything, unlike me”.
Sue recalls the first time she’d visited Gigi’s house. It was a cold winter day, and the girls had rushed inside the room, the young Sue prompting the young Gigi to turn on the heater. However, as she’d drawn the blanket to cover herself, she’d found out it was warm!
Gigi had exclaimed that “he” did it again when “he” suddenly entered in excitement to greet his daughter with snacks. He’d warmed up the room, then brought out enough warm, tasty snacks for Gigi and her new friend. Then he proceeded to hand each girl a bill as an extra allowance to spend.
Seeing the little heart on her bill, Gigi had gotten up to tell her dad not to keep doing this, but their voices had drifted into the room where Sue had heard it’s all for his “little princess”.
“That’s when I started being bothered by you,” the present Sue continues her confession to Gigi. That’s when she started wanting to steal everything from her. Why’s she always ok? Why are there always good things around her?
Sue approaches Gigi with one of those fake smiles—does she get it now? She’s never liked her. She’d always been smiling without a clue, but being happy is a sin! Gigi being so cluelessly happy is annoying!
“Do you know how hard life can be? Do you know how hellish it can be? You can’t be happy when I’m so miserable. Now, I’ll show you how unkind the world can be. How hellish life can be,” with those as her last words, Sue turns to leave, but Gigi grabs her.
Gigi’s revelation
Was that all? Her dad had an affair with her mom; no one knew but her. Does Sue think she can make her suffer and steal what’s precious to her for that reason? Really?
Sue pushes off Gigi’s hand, “You’re so full of yourself, I hate it when you act like a know-it-all. Don’t you feel sorry for me? I feel so bad for myself!”
Not at all! Gigi doesn’t feel bad for her because she knew too. She had known that Sue’s dad had an affair with her mom. She knew it too and had thought it was a relief that Sue hadn’t known. The young Sue had always talked about her dad, how he cared for her, and considered her his princess.
However, the young Gigi had always known the delusion her “friend” lived by. Because of that, she’d wanted to be good to her since they may just have a chance of being happy together. Even when she was dying, she’d hoped Sue would be happy.
“Don’t act as if you care. You dumped Mino on me for a rich guy?” Sue lets out a crazy laugh. She dumped him on her! She was always like this, pretending to be nice and taking everything in the end. She took everything!
Gigi looks straight at the screaming woman in front of her, realizing why she ended up like this.
“You brought this upon yourself, and it’s not over yet. A harsher hell awaits you. I’ll see to it. Look forward to it, it’ll be different than before,” Gigi calmly warns with a small, cold smile.
She’ll make sure her fate goes to Sue.
Mr. Capable’s intervention
Back at Jay’s ward, Gigi relieves Helen, taking the young woman’s place next to Jay’s bedside. That’s when she gets a text from Mrs. Y asking if she’s available that afternoon—she suspects her husband is cheating on her.
Her death in her past life flashes in front of Gigi’s mind. What a twist this fate is taking.
Meanwhile, Mr. Capable is sitting in a car, seemingly on a lookout right in front of the restaurant that Mrs. Y’s parents own. He’s debating whether to let “it” go, but apparently decides not to as he gets out of his car and sees Mrs. Y rushing inside ahead of him.
Heading inside after her, he sees her husband with another woman. Mrs. Y though, makes a run for it in a hurry, eventually tripping on the sidewalk a short distance away.
Mr. Capable rushes after her. On seeing her on the floor and scraped, his usual calm fades away.
“Go slap your husband if you catch him cheating. Kick him, claw his eyes out, and crack his skull open! Why are you running away?” he confronts Mrs. Y.
How does he know? But he tells her that’s not important—does she want to go back? She can borrow his golf club. How the hell has she lived to be so upright like this? Even when he’s so out of line (for really, the matter is none of his business), why can’t she get angry? That’s why her husband is cheating inside her dad’s restaurant.
“Whether I can get angry or not,” Mrs. Y cries, “Isn’t it wrong to act out like that? Isn’t it wrong to disrespect me? If someone’s kind, shouldn’t you be kind back to them? I’m good to him, and I wait. I keep waiting. Shouldn’t he come to his senses?”
Jay wakes up
It’s another day of Jay still in a coma. Gigi, who’s sitting next to his bedside once again, looks lovingly at his sleeping form. Her eye catches the small heart tattoo on his chest.
“You told me to use you anytime. What is this? Open your eyes, Jay. I’ve grown and become much stronger; I’m not the old Gigi. So, fate? I’m not scared of it any longer, and I want you to overcome your fate too,” she tells his unconscious form.
She was always alone, counting down the days since her mom left and since her dad died. But now she wants to count the days of them together. He should come back to her; he can’t leave her alone.
“Open your eyes, please,” Gigi quietly cries, “I want to hear your voice”. She plays the voicemail he left her, where he confesses he likes her. “I like you too,” Gigi responds.
His finger moves, his eyes flutter open slowly, and a hand tries to reach for Gigi’s teary face. “I love you,” he tells her.
“I love you too,” Gigi responds, even more tears running down her face. Happiness is in the small moments and tiny victories in life.
